Our survey panel identified 81 degrees as commonly leading to jobs identified by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Many universities will have most or substantially all of these degree programs available for study, or close equivalents. Different universities often call substantially the same program of studies by different names, and employers are -- in most cases -- not extraordinarily particular about the difference between two very close majors, all else being equal.

Other Degrees

In addition to the above degrees, our survey panel also identified another 224 degrees, but there was less agreement among the panelists as to whether these degrees reliably lead to particular jobs. There is substantial overlap among many of these options, as universities have virtually unlimited freedom -- and large vocabularies -- to name their majors, minors, and degree programs whatever they wish.
