WHAT IS KINESIOLOGY?
Kinesiology focuses on the optimum flow of energy within the body. When bioelectrical energy becomes obstructed, then these blocked energies create a system that is need of restoration. That is when (and where) Kinesiology begins to work its "magic." Through testing the strength and weakness of a variety of muscles, the Kinesiologist is able to locate specifically the exact spot of the energy block, use AK (Applied Kinesiology) via the principles of Chiropractic Manipulation, Acupressure and/or Massage Therapy in order to resolve the problem. Kinesiology, or muscle testing is the tool that provides, with great precision, the diagnosis that is critical to proper treatment.
Kinesiology is a branch of Holistic Medicine which uses the "Touch For Health" method of diagnosis and cure. In addition, vitamin and nutrient therapy may also be deemed necessary. The Practitioner may also see a need to look at the current, and possibly past, emotional dimensions of the individual's life, as denied feelings are a predominant cause of blocked energies. Many people have discovered relief from pain through Kinesiology, when they had been unable to obtain relief through any other physical modality.
AREAS OF STUDY INVOLVED IN KINESIOLOGY:
Kinesiology involves studying a variety of courses. For a Certificate, it is necessary to study the Human Anatomy and Physiology, as well as Massage Therapy; Acupressure; Reflexology; Neuromuscular Massage; Reiki; Thai Massage; and other interesting courses involving energy flow and the human body. A Bachelor of Arts/or Science Degree, or a Master of Arts /or ScienceDegree, would also include prerequisites of a Liberal Arts program, eg., English, Math, Social and Physical Sciences, in addition to the specific Kinesiology courses already listed above. The study of Kinesiology emphasizes "hands-on" techniques that are involved in the process of human touch and resultant healing.
AREAS OF AVAILABLE WORK FOR THOSE WITH CERTIFICATES AND DEGREES:
Kinesiologists are able to work with, or as Chiropractors, Teachers, Athletic Coaches, and Trainers in Private Exercise Facilities. It is a good place to start for enlistment in the Armed Services, as some core courses emphasize such activities as rope climbing. A study of this sort could be invaluable to promotions while in the Armed Services. Opening a Therapy Practice is another good possibility for employment in the area of Kinesiology. Some job opportunities may require education beyond the Certificate Program, yet that program can be a very good place to start. In a Certificate Program, students are usually able to determine very quickly if they are interested in the pursuit of a particular field of study. Also, Certificate Programs are a very good tool for additional knowledge and the building of further credentials.
INSTITUTIONS OFFERING KINESIOLOGY CERTIFICATES AND/OR DEGREES:
There are many Schools which offer the study of and a Certificate or Degree in this field. If studying Online, location of the school may not be as important as other factors, such as cost. Yet, if there is a Practical Session, referred to as a Practicum, required for the completion of the Program, the location where these Practicums are held may become quite important in the final analysis of everything.
